Globally, Aviko employs more than 1600 people. 500 employees are based at the headquarters in Steenderen (The Netherlands).

Chilled products have a shorter frying time than frozen, therefore more portions can be served in the same time span. Also, chilled chips will help you save energy because the lower oil temperature required vs. frozen, shorter frying time and chilled storage instead of frozen.

potato products vs. chilled?
Frozen products offer flexibility for busy kitchens. Portions are easy to control and the long shelf life helps you minimise wastage. Some frozen products, such as Aviko Supercrunch fries are prepared with a natural starch coating, providing you with a longer holding time.
5. Do Aviko fries contain any
No - both our chilled and frozen ranges are free from additives. All our products are made using the best potatoes and vegetable oils, no need for artificial nasties!
6. Is it true that most of the vitamins
in a potato are contained just beneath the skin?
This is true for fruit, but not for potatoes. In potatoes, the vitamin content is found more towards the centre. The main vitamins in potatoes are vitamin C - beneficial for your immune system and concentration - and vitamins B1, B2 and B12. When producing our potato specialities we take extra care in preserving all the vitamins - giving you the maximum goodness from Aviko potatoes.
7. How many tonnes of potatoes are
harvested globally each year?
The annual potato harvest averages around 272 million tonnes, grown across 17 million acres of land. This vast amount of potatoes would cover the surfaces of a dual carriage way stretching 6 times around the globe. At Aviko, we make an effort to select the very best potatoes for our products.

Most pesticides are used in the potato industry to control the fungous disease Phytophthora. In the potato variety list different potato varieties are valued for their resistance against this disease. The higher the value the more resistant the potato variety. The values differ per country. In the UK the values are: Carrot tops Tuber Agria 4 5 Asterix 3 5 Victoria 4 3 Shepody 2 3 Maris Piper 4 5. When it comes to pesticides more and more a European policy is in place and differences in regulations per county from the past disappear.
